Katavi is one of the biggest National Parks in Tanzania in terms of its Biomass being the second after Serengeti. This untouchable wilderness can be explored on foot or by land cruiser or land rover almost all day long.
Another advantage which makes Katavi unique is the freedom to get closer to animals and plants. Unlike other National Parks there are no restrictions to drive around and within the park.
Situated southeast of Mahale and about sixty miles east of Lake Tanganyika, this park offers a game view of wild animals like
Elephants, Hippopotamus, Topi, Crocodiles, Giraffe, Hartebeest, Sable, Roan, Waterbuck, Reedbuck and Herds of African Buffalos.
The park also has a large number of mice at the edge of Chada flood plain. The park can be reached by airplane about 50 minutes from Arusha. The park displays a pleasant scenario as you land at Katavi aerodrome.
You can see animals at Katisunga flood plain. Apart from its beauty flora, Katavi has a large number of predators such as hyena, lions, leopards and it is a home to flocks of birds (400 species approx). While visiting Katavi Chada Camp is open for accommodation.
